What is needed for mutual fund registration
Sponsor Track Record
The sponsor must have a sound financial track record over the prescribed number of preceding years and a general reputation for fairness in business.
Sponsor Contribution
The sponsor must contribute the prescribed minimum share of the net worth of the asset management company.
AMC Net Worth
The asset management company must maintain the minimum net worth prescribed under the Mutual Funds Regulations at all times.
Separate Trustee
The mutual fund must be constituted as a trust with a trustee company, and the required proportion of trustees must be independent.
Key Personnel
Fund managers, compliance officer and other key personnel must hold prescribed qualifications, certifications and relevant experience.
Fit and Proper
The sponsor, trustees, AMC and its directors must satisfy the fit and proper criteria and have no adverse regulatory record.
Registration and scheme launch are separate approvals. The mutual fund is registered first, and each scheme is then filed with SEBI for observations before it can open for subscription โ we run both stages.
